Cromer has been my favorite English beach for many reasons and now I’ve found a great b&b less than a 10 minute walk from the train station as well (important for overseas visitors; train fare cost me just £6 from London all the way to Cromer, booked online in advance). No.4 is a delightful combination of quiet Victorian authenticity and modern conveniences. They told me it’s probably not the place for someone with dog or cat allergies, but that’s the only slightly negative thing--because the rooms were spotlessly clean. The host family is great, always amiable and helpful when asked for suggestions or information, but we felt an easy sense of privacy there. It’s near bike rentals, the blue-flag beach (EU cleanliness award), tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, movies, golf, stables, concerts, country walks, and sunny benches where you can watch the ships and crab boats. But even if you’re only looking for a comfortable place to relax with a good book, a place to sleep refreshed by sea breeze, you can’t do better than No.4.
